On the 22nd of July 2015, the authorities of Wroclaw decided to demolish Romanian Roma settlement at Paprotna St. During their absence the area was trespassed by shovels which razed to the ground all Roma belongings. The eviction was conducted in unconscionable way and broke all norms of a dialogue and human rights.
The Caldarar family lived there for 7 years. However, they were not informed about the plans and the date of eviction, their belongings were disposed. The authorities of Wroclaw do not see the human tragedy in this situation, and reduce the whole operation to a matter of waste management and necessity of land clearing, constantly hiding behind the construction law, which apparently seems to be more relevant to officials that human rights.
NOMADA Association started a social campaign aiming to draw the attention to the policy of authorities of Wroclaw concerning Romanian Roma, and to force the local government to prepare local migration policy. We encourage you to support the official letter to Polish Prime Minister and to sign under the petition addressed to the Mayor of Wrocław: Stop the Demolitions! We Demand Local Migration Policies.
