Average costs of living in Wrocław
The official currency is złoty (zł-PLN). Most shops and service points accept payment cards. There are currency exchange bureausin the city centre and in the places of increased international traffic (airports, train stations).
• The exchange of the currencyfor the Polish złotyis offered by banks, but the more favourable exchange rate can be found in currency exchange bureaus, which carry out financial operations without the commission.
• Cash machinesare to be found in the majority of banks and in all shopping centres. The withdrawn money is converted to the złoty. Many restaurants and some shops, especially in the city centre, also accept the euro.

Depending on the type of the building (tenement, block of flats, single family detached house), apart from the rent, there are additional charges for the bills (central heating and/or gas, refuse collection).

Free Municipal Internet: currently it is possible in Wrocław to connect to the City Internet (Miejski Internet) at over 130 points, covering such locations as the Old Town (Stare Miasto), Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia), the Airport, OstrówTumski, the Reagan Roundabout (Rondo Reagana), Malt Island (Wyspa Słodowa), the Aquapark, Wrocław Main Railway Station (Dworzec Główny PKP), the vicinity of Wrocław Stadium (Stadion Wrocław) orthe Panorama of the Battle of Racławice (Panorama Racławicka). There are over 150 signs in the city providing the information on the network coverage.
It possible to use the computer with the free access to the Internet in some libraries (e.g. Mediateka), after making the earlier appointment.
Food and cleaning supplies
Assuming that the monthly cost of food depends on the individual diet (meat, vegetarian, kosher) and eating habits (eating out, homemade meals), and that one eats regularly three, high-value, nutritious meals a day, it would be necessary to spend on average 500 PLN for food.Cleaning supplies (the cheapest are to be bought in retail stores such as Lidl, Biedronka or Rossmann) are the expense of a dozen of PLN or so.

The price of a meal in a restaurant depends on its standard/localization.However, it is possible to find bars and restaurants that serve tasty and affordable meals even in the city centre (the average costs of the meal range from 10 to 20 PLN). The Nadodrzedistrict is famous for cheap milk bars (bar mleczny). The famous Bar Miś, which is visited by lots of students, is located in Kuźnicza Street.The prices for a meal in more expensive restaurants start at about 30 PLN.

While driving a car in Wrocław it is necessary to keep in mind that many streets in the city centre are closed to vehicles, or they areone-way streets. There is also the metred parking zone. The fees range from 1 PLN to 3 PLN for every next hour – it is possible to check them at the back of the parking sign.The payment for the parking in the metered parking zone should be made in the parking ticket payment machines. It is possible to use cash, mobile phone or payment card in order to pay for the parking ticket.
We recommend that you rent a city bike while both sightseeing and commuting!
The City Bike Network (Wrocławski Rower Miejski – WRM) in Wrocław exists since 2011. You can rent one of over 200 bikes at more than 34 stands in the city. First 20 minutes of rental is free. However, you need to be registered in the Nextbike system (Nextbike is a company operating the WRM). Bike rentals operated by Nextbike.The users of the system are able to rent bikes in every city in the world where there are bike rentals such as in Wrocław.
